Fidra Books is a publishing company based in Edinburgh, founded and run by Malcolm and Vanessa Robertson. We specialise in reprinting children’s books which we feel are unfairly neglected and deserve to be back in print. Our books range from 1930s adventure stories to iconic 1960s fantasy novels and from pony books by Carnegie medal winning authors to contemporary boarding school stories.
In November 2007, we expanded and opened The Children’s Bookshop, Edinburgh’s only specialist bookshop for children. The bookshop has been a great success – we were one of The Bookseller’s bookshops to watch in 2008 and have recently been short-listed for Independent Bookshop of the Year and Independent Children’s Bookshop of the Year. We love beautifully crafted illustrations, and have longed for more wall space to display artists’ work. The idea to have a gallery space sprang from that!
We’ve had an incredibly enthusiastic response from illustrators and publishers; we hope you’ll agree that we have some astonishingly talented artists represented and artwork from some exceptional books.
